Uprooted tree smashes onto car shattering rear windscreen during storm in Bangkok
This is the dramatic moment an uprooted tree crashed onto a taxi shattering its rear windscreen during a storm in Bangkok.
The sedan had stopped at a red light in front of the CentralWorld Mall in Bangkok's business district when a blast of wind blew down a tall tree planted on the sidewalk at noon on June 5.
Footage shows the tree toppling over and slamming onto the car's windshield. The shocked passengers were later seen emerging from the vehicle unharmed.
There were no injuries reported, but the fallen tree caused a slight traffic jam as authorities cleared the road.
Onlooker Pichetpol Srisuphan said: 'The tree looked like it had no roots at all. Some of these trees on the sidewalk are quite dangerous for road users. You never know when they're going to fall over.'
Thailand has entered its annual monsoon rainy season which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms in the afternoon leading to widespread flash floods.
