Digital technology has been applied in the flood control and disaster mitigation of the Yellow River, the second-longest river in China.
In central China's Henan Province, a research team is checking some "stones" along the Yellow River.

"This is a 'smart stone,' which consists of an MCU (Micro Control Unit) module and a battery. Once a root stone is washed away or there's a risk of collapse, an alarm will be sent to our command center."
It's part of a "Digital Yellow River" project that aims to give technical support to the harnessing, development and management of the Yellow River.
