A Russian tourist was beaten up by strip club bouncers after he allegedly refused to pay his bill.

Oleg Rusovsiannikov, 33, and his friend had been drinking at the go-go bar along Walking Street in Pattaya, Thailand on June 18, but tried to walk away without paying their tab when the venue closed at 3am.

Bouncers blocked their exit as the tourists claimed they didn't have enough cash to pay the 1,975 THB (57 USD) bill. When staff suggested they pay with a card, the pair still refused.

Overhearing Oleg's predicament, another group of foreign tourists then suggested that he leave behind his watch as collateral, but this only angered the drunk Russian.

CCTV footage shows how the bouncers descended on Oleg and his friend, pummeling them before throwing them out onto the street.

The Pattaya City Special Affairs said they received a report about the fight at around 3:30 am. Pattaya City police officers went to the scene and found a bruised and beaten Oleg with bleeding wounds on his face. The bouncers had already left.

The city's 'Special Affairs Department' took Oleg to the police station to help him file a report.

During the investigations, bar manager Wichai and bar workers Nawapol, Dream, and Marut went to the police station to give their version of events.

Wichai claimed that the Russians refused to pay their bill when they were being charged as the bar was closing.

Cops said they will review the CCTV footage to find the other people involved. No charges have been filed while the investigation continues.

Police Captain Chaowalit Suwanmanee said: 'I think there was a misunderstanding because of the language differences. We will resolve teh case in a way that is fair to everyone involved.'

Thailand's current military government has made efforts to clean up Pattaya after it was dubbed the 'sex capital' of the world and a modern-day Sodom and Gomorrah.

However, the entrenched sex industry and endemic corruption have proved difficult to tame in the once-sleepy coastal city.

A large number of British ex-pats have also set up bars in the sun-drenched resort, which has become an attractive place for pensioners to retire.
