Mum reveals the special bond between her baby and Labrador which makes them like BROTHERS PART 2/2
A mum has revealed the special bond between her baby and Labrador who are inseparable and like brothers.
Little Jacob and three-year-old, Chester have been friends ever since the seven-and-a-half-month-old was born.
The pair love spending their days together cuddling up and napping next to each other.
They also like to play together and Chester loves to roll a ball to his little brother.
Their parents, Jessica and Ellis Rooney, 25 and 30, have seen their relationship grow as their baby has gotten older.
This mum has revealed how she loves watching them interact and it melts her heart seeing them together.
Jessica, of Hook, Hampshire, said: “Their relationship is sweet, they spend most days together around the house.
“Jacob absolutely loves Chester and gets very excited when he sees him.
“Chester is quite happy to just be sitting on the sofa snoozing, but sometimes will bring his ball over to Jacob and I when we are playing and will roll it towards him which melts my heart.
“When Jacob is on the move and they can play together properly, it will be so lovely to see them together.
“Chester is pretty chilled, he likes to be nearby so he isn’t missing out and will always follow us if we go upstairs or into a different room.
“He has his own bed in Jacob’s room and he often lays there while we do bath and bedtime.
“I’m trying to teach Jacob to stroke him rather than tugging at his fur, to try to sit them together every day to encourage soft gentle behaviour around Chester.”
However, she has revealed Chester wasn’t so sure of his little brother when he first arrived home with their parents.
She said: “When we brought Jacob home, we had a night without Chester and he stayed at my dad's house with his dog Bailey, just to give us a chance to get settled.
“Ellis picked him up and brought him home, he came running through the door, grabbed his ball straight away and was trotting around the lounge and didn’t even notice Jacob in the Moses basket at first.
“After a few minutes, we pointed out Jacob to him and he gave him a sniff and a little growl as a sign he was unsure what this new thing was.
“He couldn’t see into the Moses basket properly as he was too short, so we took Jacob out of the basket — so Chester could see him, Ellis held him in his lap.
“Chester gave him little sniffs and when Jacob moved, it made Chester jump — I think he was nervous for two or three days.
“When Jacob cried near him he would get up and walk away, probably trying to protect his ears, but when Jacob was quiet, they laid together and had cuddles which was sweet.”
The mum-of-one has friends and family gushing over candid snaps of them together with many saying how cute the pair are.
She describes them as ‘naturals’ when it comes to posing for pics which are posted on their Instagram page, @theadventuresofchesterrooney, which has over 8,800 followers.
She added: “Chester has been the star of his Instagram since we got him, so he is very good at posing.
“Lots of them are just natural shots sitting together, on walks, on the play mat...
“And I just say their names and they both look and I’ll take the photo.
“Jacob is a very happy, smiley baby so it’s not tricky to get him to smile for a nice photo — he’s a natural.
“It’s so nice! Everyone loves Chester and Jacob.
“We always get such nice compliments on both of them, Chester being a sweet-natured dog and Jacob a happy smiley baby.
“It makes us really proud parents.”
However, Jessica has revealed she faced some criticism from others over having her dog and baby so close.
She has also shared her tips for other mums who want to raise a dog and baby together.
She said: “So far, only one person has commented on them being together and how I should be careful... most people love seeing photos and videos of them together.
“They both live in the same house and need to learn to be understanding towards each other and that’s what we are trying to teach them.
“Don’t stress, go with it. "Lean on your partner to walk the dog or look after the baby if you can’t face taking them both out together.
“It's tough, getting out of the house with them both. In the beginning, I found it really hard but slowly I’m getting there.
“No dog will suffer from having a short walk instead of a long one or not having a walk for one or two days.
“It’s all about finding a new balance of life, a new routine and that takes time.”
