Turkish authorities race to locate two hikers who fell into a crevasse when the glacier they were on cracked. The incident occurred on Mount Cilo in Hakkari Province on July 16, 2023.

Search and rescue teams managed to save two of the group, but the search for the remaining two continues.

Ferhat Basdinc, a mountain and nature guide, led the rescue effort. He descended into the crevasse with the Nas-sar search and rescue team to find the stranded hikers. They successfully rescued two individuals, one conscious with minor injuries and the other, a woman, with a fractured hip and in shock. Unfortunately, the search for the other two hikers had to be concluded due to safety concerns. The rescued individuals were airlifted to the hospital, and the search operation resumed with hopes of finding the remaining hikers alive.

Authorities emphasize the importance of not venturing onto glaciers without trained guides and respecting nature's risks.
