"Dance is a beautiful and versatile art form that transcends cultural boundaries and brings people together. If you are a fan of dancing, here's something you can't miss. The 6th China Xinjiang International Dance Festival is underway in Urumqi in China's Xinjiang."
 
A history-themed dance drama Zhang Qian was staged at the festival's opening ceremony. The play's main creators have shared their thought on the ancient Chinese envoy's journey to the West.

"Zhang Qian was committed to his original inspiration during his journey to the West and opened up a trade route in his whole life that later became the Silk Road. The audience can see how people in Xinjiang live happily through the play."

Opened Thursday in Urumqi, the capital of northwest China's Xinjiang, the 6th China Xinjiang International Dance Festival, with a theme of "Dreams of Dance, Harmony of Silk Road," attracted more than 1,000 artists from Asia, Europe and Africa. The festival will last for 17 days and stage 60 performances.
