A batch of 95 undergraduate students majoring in home economics has recently graduated from a college in Shanghai.
 
Zhu Chunnan is one of the graduates. Though having worked in the domestic services sector for more than 10 years, she said that the professional education may bring her more opportunities.
 
According to incomplete statistics, about one third of the more than 8 million households in Shanghai have demands for domestic services.
 
Many higher education institutions across the country have set up a major in home economics for undergraduate programs to meet the growing market demand.

"I dreamed to go to college when I was a child and that was largely why I applied for the undergraduate program. Now, it can bring me more opportunities. I also teach students yoga as a part-time job. Now my monthly income can easily reach 20,000 yuan (about 2,900 U.S. dollars)."
