Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi and Serbia's Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Milos Vucevic met in Cairo on Tuesday to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral ties as well as military and security cooperation.
During the meeting, Sisi said Egypt values its historical ties to Serbia and reiterated Egypt's commitment to advancing cooperation in various domains that include the defense sector, according to a statement released by the Egyptian presidency.
"Egypt seeks to advance the two countries' partnership on the basis of their potentials," the president was quoted by the statement as saying.
The two sides also discussed global issues of common concern, particularly the Russian-Ukrainian conflict and its far-reaching geopolitical and economic impact.
Vucevic underlined the growing relations between the two countries and praised Egypt's increasingly influential role on both regional and international arenas.
He also commended Egypt for its unwavering efforts in countering terrorism in the region, the statement added.
