SOUNDBITE 1 (Arabic): BADR ABDELATTY, Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration
"As close as we were to reaching an accord, new excuses, new allegations, new falsifications and new lies arise that have nothing to do with realities. They know that. There are arms in the West Bank. How did these arms reach the West Bank? Have they been tunneled through Egypt? This is illogical."
SOUNDBITE 2 (English): LARS LOKKE RASMUSSEN, Danish Minister of Foreign Affairs
"And of course, we also discussed the political situation, and I want to take this opportunity to say that I highly commend Egypt's tireless efforts to mediate ceasefire negotiations in relation to Gaza. A ceasefire is also a critical step in de-escalating tensions across the region."
Xinhua News Agency correspondents reporting from Cairo.
