Moment pony missing for three days is rescued by firefighters after being located using drone
This is the moment a stranded pony which went missing for three days was rescued from a river by firefighters after being located with a drone.
The pony called Twinkle disappeared after throwing her rider during a trek near Syston, Leics., on Saturday (19/8).
A party of 50 people began looking for her around the local area but she could not be traced until charity Drone To Home joined the search.
Twinkle was found with a drone "in less than five minutes" submerged in water and stuck in mud in a river. "
The charity was able to help direct firefighters to her precise location and crews used a rescue boat, ropes and a harness to pull her to safely back to dry land.
Twinkle has since been reunited with her owner, who was left hospitalised by the fall, but has since recovered.
The charity wrote on Facebook: "We were asked to look for a pony this morning in Leicestershire. "
"Had thrown it's rider 3 days ago who ended up in hospital ( out now)."
"Found within 5 minutes of arrival and fire service called to rescue the pony who was stuck in deep mud and water."
"The fire service were brilliant as ever and the pony was rescued after 3.5 hours."
"Well done Monty Drone and the very professional Drone To Home Team and a huge thank you to Leicestershire Fire Service."
Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service posted on social media: "A massive well done and thank you to our crews from both Southern and Birstall for safely rescuing a pony that went missing three days ago after an incident with its owner."
