Colombia, the world's largest cocaine producer, increased coca leaf cultivation by almost 13% in 2022 to a record 230,000 hectares, according to a United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (Undoc) report released Monday.

By 2021 the country had 204,000 hectares of coca plantations, 43% more than in 2020.

Although there was a slowdown in growth in the last period, the figure is the highest recorded by the UN since it began its monitoring of cocaine production in 2001.

Along with drug cultivation, the manufacture of drugs leaving Colombia has grown, mainly to the United States and Europe.
