Cyclists battled the North Downs in a gruelling hill climb in Kent, UK this morning (September 24).

Wigmore Cycling Club organised their annual time trial up Hollingbourne Hill near Maidstone, attracting 40 competitors.

The hill climb sees cyclists battle one of the steepest hills over the north down against the clock.

The gruelling three quarter of a mile climb averages a 1 in 8 gradient - which gets even steeper during the last third of the climb.

The North Downs are a ridge of natural chalk hills stretching from Farnham in Surrey to Dover in Kent and are classified as an area of outstanding natural beauty.
