A 15-year-old boy has entered the Guinness Book of Records for having the longest hair of a male teenager.

Sidakdeep Singh Chahal from Noida, Uttar Pradesh, who says he has never had a haircut, has let his hair grow to a huge 130cm (4ft 3in).

Chahal says he has had a mixed experience with his remarkably long hair, with some bullying him for it and others praising him.

Starting in 2021, Chahal shares that he applied for the record and it took a year and several attempts to get it accepted. He states that now, he has been receiving calls from his friends and relatives who congratulate him for his achievement.

"I feel extremely happy to be able to hold a world record myself. After seeing many people do it time and time again on TV, news and social media, I am ecstatic to look at the record and realise I am the one who holds it," he shared.

"The support from my parents has been tremendous, especially my mother, who has groomed my hair ever since I was a small child. She has washed, combed and tied my hair for many many years now and my father's support has also been tremendous.

The young record holder also had some words to share for other youngsters: "Do not give in to bullies. Find your own tune and play along with it."

Sidakdeep Singh Chahal, a 15-year-old Sikh boy from northern India's Uttar Pradesh, has set a record for having the longest hair by a living male teenager. His religion, Sikhism, prevents him from cutting hair and young Sidakdeep has abided by that principle, one of the core tenets of his faith. Now he holds a world record.

So how did it all transpire? Sidakdeep hasn't cut a hair in his whole life and he says that this would not have been possible if not for his mother's help. The 15-year-old from Noida grew his hair to an astounding length of 146 cm (4 ft 9.5 in). Interestingly enough, he has had a mixed experience with his hair, with some bullying him for it and others sharing words of praise. Many shared that they wished they had hair this long and voluminous.

He gradually began to take care of it and accept it as part of his being. And now, he owns a world record.

The 15-year-old was seen opening up his hair and the sheer length and volume of it would leave many astounded and impressed. Wind blew across his hair as he laid it out. Sidakdeep reiterates the support he received from his mother and shared how she has been washing his hair for so many years. He washes his hair twice a week and it takes an hour each to wash, dry and brush it all. He ties his hair in a bun under a turban as per the customs of Sikhism.
