Terrified shoppers fled from a mall amid a suspected shooting in Bangkok, Thailand, this afternoon.

Shocked onlookers said they had heard 'five or six' shots from inside the Siam Paragon building in the centre of the Thai capital.

Security guards were seen directing panic-stricken locals from the exit through the car park. Other shoppers were stuck inside the building - hiding inside shops with their shutters pulled down.

Police have now closed the building.

It comes almost a year to the day when gunman Panya Khamrab, 34, killed 36 people and injured 10 others in a rampage at a nursery in Nong Bua Lamphu province in the north of the country on October 6, 2022. He later turned a gun on himself during the spree.
