STORYLINE:
The Confucius Institute at the National University of Mongolia (NUM) celebrated its 15th founding anniversary on Monday.
Chinese Ambassador to Mongolia Shen Minjuan and representatives of relevant organizations from both countries attended the celebration ceremony.
Shen said "China and Mongolia are close neighbors linked by mountains and rivers. Learning each other's language and culture is helpful in passing on mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples of the two countries to future generations."
The Confucius Institute at the NUM was established under an agreement between the NUM and China's Shandong University 15 years ago.
Since its establishment, it has trained nearly 40,000 Chinese language learners in Mongolia.
