STORYLINE:

The Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway is a landmark project of the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative.

The 142-kilometer railway cuts the journey between the two cities from over three hours to roughly 40 minutes.

27-year-old Galang Swandaru has witnessed the construction of Tegalluar Station of the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway, which covers an area of 2,900 square meters.

According to statistics provided by Kereta Cepat Indonesia China, the project has created about 51,000 jobs in Indonesia.

"I've been witnessing when you provide better infrastructure, the new economy will come. After the high-speed train, there is a reason to stay, to work, to live. The high-speed train is not only bringing people but also creating new economic growth. So I think the high-speed train will become the symbol of good relationship between China and Indonesia."
