SOUNDBITE (English): WILLIAM RUTO, Kenyan President
"We have excellent relationship between Kenya and China. And we share that in many aspects, in many development programs that we have done together, many shared positions both at the multilateral and also bilateral space, Belt and Road Initiative and many other initiatives that we work together.
Kenya is among the countries in the African continent that have successfully implemented the Belt and Road Initiative programs, around our Standard Gauge Railway. And we are also beneficiaries of road infrastructure programs.
We are not only aligned in terms of government-to-government initiatives around the Vision 2030 and the BRI, but also in the private sector space, and even the people-to-people connection is increasing both in terms of culture, in education and in all the other aspects.
And I think it is a celebration, a ten-year celebration, the third summit of this kind to also evaluate what we have achieved, and what we can achieve by working together more into the future and also building greater networks of relationships, between Kenya and China, between China and our continent.
There's a huge investment opportunity for the Chinese private sector to invest in the Kenyan space, whether it is in the digital economy, the e-mobility ecosystem, the space around manufacturing, or the space around industrialization. There is huge space for investment. So partly, I will be looking as a salesman of Kenya and our region."
