Groans heard as easyJet flight cancelled after passenger 'defecated on floor'
Groans were heard after the pilot announced an easyJet flight from Tenerife to London Gatwick was cancelled after a passenger defecated on the floor.
Footage shows passengers' reactions as the pilot stated: "We're now staying the night here, we're now going to get everyone off."
The filmer posted the video to X with the caption: "Real good of
@easyJet to delay the flight 3.5 hours with 0 communication then decide to cancel it altogether because someone took a s*** on the toilet floor🤯 quite literally couldn’t make this s*** up."
They later told Newsflare: "The video shows the pilot announcing that, after an almost 4-hour delay already, he would be cancelling the flight due to a passenger defecating on the floor of the front toilet.
"We decided to film this as our original delay reason was air traffic control (meaning no compensation was due) but the pilot later gave an announcement stating that it was actually the fault of the airline for downgrading the plane assigned to the flight.
"We weren’t fast enough to film this announcement but it would have helped with our compensation claim so when he began to speak again, we started filming as we assumed he would be discussing this again, not the defecation.
"After this video (which was taken at around 23:45 on Sunday), we then had to wait 30 minutes before we were allowed to exit the plane and a further 90 minutes before we were given information about a hotel for the night and replacement flight."
According to reports, passengers were being offered £500 vouchers if they volunteered to leave the flight as the second plane was too small.
EasyJet released a statement online about booking hotels for passengers: "Due to extremely high demand, unfortunately we’re unable to find hotel rooms in the area.
“If you need a hotel room and are able to make your own arrangements, we’ll refund the cost of a reasonably priced room, meals and travel costs to and from your hotel.
“In this case we ask that you look for accommodation which is about three stars or equivalent."
