STORYLINE:

STANDUP (English): YOU ZHIXIN, Xinhua correspondent
"As a world-class expo, the China International Import Expo (CIIE) has been held successfully for five consecutive years since 2018. And over 3,000 companies are gathering at the business event this year. It will be the first complete return to in-person exhibition for the event since the pandemic. So in today's InShanghai OpenMic, our first speaker is Holly Lei, President of Covestro China. Let's see what's the key focus of its presence at the CIIE. Let's welcome."
SOUNDBITE (English): HOLLY LEI, President of Covestro China
"Covestro is a global leading polymer maker from Germany. We are striving for climate neutral by 2035. With that, we are working extremely hard with the partners around the world, including the partners in China.
The CIIE has proven that it is a rewarding platform for us. We all know the challenges around us. Climate change, resource is getting really limited for solutions.
For Covestro, we do have many solutions around that. For Covestro as a global company, we are not only working in one industry, one market. We actually work in all the markets around the world.
Since last CIIE,  we work together with our partners, developers, and also the regulators, really tried to find ultra-low energy consumption solutions. We brought a few solutions this year and we trusted this will be very, very impactful. One is the ultra-low energy window, and also (there will be) a kind of polyurethane wall. Hopefully, this will give us a kind of new idea about how to bring the carbon emission down from this sector. The third one we are very proud, from the perspective of technology breakthrough, is that for the first time, we brought the analysis of chemical recycling technology into the Chinese market.
So these three examples tell us again, I want to emphasize, the CIIE, it is really a remarkable, rewarding platform. Through this platform, we Covestro already realized that we can broaden, deepen the collaboration and the partnership with many many kinds of stakeholders along the value chain. So with that, I really have to say this is really a great show. Let's also join force to really help China to achieve the dual carbon goal. Covestro has invested in China for more than 3.9 billion euros. We remain committed still into this market."
