Storm Ciaran: Drone shows extent of flooding in Alfriston, East Sussex, after Cuckmere river bursts its banks

The flooded village. Alfriston, and surrounding areas in East Sussex, UK after heavy rain futher flooding from the river Cuckmere after it burst its banks last week due to persistant high rainfall has led to the situation getting worse as further flooding up stream has meant livestock have had to be moved to higher ground. Vehicles have had to be rescued getting stuck in flood waters and those not wsihing to risk the flooded roads are having to take 15 mile detours to reach the village. The enivronmental agency are trying to pump water out of the village. However it is the locals who have set up Alfriston Emergency Group who are dealing with rescuing trapped motorists and monitorng the flood waters. Today a tractor had to take the vicar to st.Andrews, Alfrsiton as the water was too deep to drive or walk, or even wade. Ther is anger in the village that the Environmental Agency is not donig enough.
