Giant Thai mythology god covered in banknotes parades streets
A giant mythology god statue covered in banknotes was paraded through the streets in Thailand.
Footage shows the 21ft-tall figure of Thao Wessuwan adorned with folded paper bills glued all over its body during a festival in Sakhon Nakhon province on November 5.
Thao Wessuwan was also surrounded by money garlands totalling up to 2.3 million Baht (52,352 GBP) and carried on a platform by followers.
The statue, along with the amount that came with it, was donated to a Buddhist temple for the Thot Kathin ceremony, where locals gather gifts to give to monks at a temple.
Thao Wessuwan is a revered deity in Thai mythology and Buddhism, often depicted as a powerful giant with a commanding presence.
Buddhism is the official religion of Thailand, and it is followed by more than 95 per cent of the population.
