This is the magical moment winter lovers take a ride on nature's carousel as they stand on top of a perfectly round block of ice moving in circles on a river.

Phone footage shows about a dozen men and women standing on top of the ice as it slowly spun around on the river near Yakeshi in the Inner Mongolia region of in northern China.

Several more appeared to be waiting their turn for the frozen formation that rotated in one spot at a slow, constant pace, likely being moved by the strong current beneath.

Locals were fascinated by the phenomenon and some even rushed their children to experience nature's wonder, local media reported.

Officials said the ice disk was naturally formed as part of the ice on the frozen river's surface melted as temperatures rose.

They added they have already dispatched personnel to the scene to maintain order.

An ice circle, also known as an ice disk or ice pan, is a natural phenomenon that occurs in slow-moving rivers or creeks during cold weather.

It is a circular formation of ice that rotates slowly in the water.

The rotation is typically caused by the dynamics of the river or creek, creating a circular piece of ice that spins on its axis which can reach several feet in diameter.
