Bungling shopping mall bosses close new 'glass floor' installation amid upskirt fears
Bungling bosses have closed a new transparent glass floor zone amid upskirt fears at a shopping mall in Thailand.
The new section at the second level of the Siam Paragon Mall in Bangkok features transparent floor panels that offer a clear view of busy shoppers from above and below.
However, the installation has been cordoned off following public outcry from the locals, who raised concerns about the structure's sturdiness, as well as women's privacy and potential voyeurism.
Critics claimed the mall had 'prioritised aesthetics over functionality' when creating the design.
One visitor said they felt 'extremely scared' while walking across the glass surface.
She added: 'I wanted to warn other people about how unsafe this could be to walk on. I find it quite scary that people could get a thrill from looking up from below.'
Siam Paragon has since blocked mallgoers from entering the area, where there was 'work in progress'.
