This is the touching moment kindhearted neighbours returned a pair of runaway tortoises they found wandering outside.

Homeowner Thananan Ruannark's mother had accidentally left the gate open after she received a parcel from a delivery rider, prompting the curious two turtles to amble out of the compound in Bangkok, Thailand.

CCTV footage shows the Sulcata turtles inching through the open gate on September 27.

Around an hour later, a group of residents arrived at the house carrying the mischievous pets.

They called out to the elderly woman and handed the animals back to her.

Thananan said: 'I was relieved the tortoises were safe, and I'm very grateful to our kind neighbours who helped return them.'
