POW Parachute Jump Marks WWII Operation Anniversary Over Papua New Guinea

In a poignant tribute during Exercise Global Dexterity 23-2, an airplane jump with parachutes over Papua New Guinea marked the 80th anniversary of a pivotal Allied operation from World War II.
The mission, conducted by C-17A Globemaster aircraft from the United States Air Force 15th Wing and RAAF No. 36 Squadron, saw 15 members of the Australian Army’s 2nd Commando Regiment descend from the skies over Nadzab.
The cargo included equipment and uniforms from the Australian Defence Force Sports Council. Strengthening defense collaboration, Papua New Guinea Defence Force personnel played crucial roles in the parachute demonstration, ensuring a seamless operation at Nadzab.
