Biologists from the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources are taking innovative measures to monitor the health and migration patterns of deer near Heber City. A recently released video showcases a helicopter airlifting three deer in separate baskets from the ground. The deer are transported to a staging area where a veterinary team conducts medical tests before releasing them back into the wild.

Each winter, the biologists undertake the task of capturing and fitting approximately 1,200 deer with GPS collars statewide. This initiative includes health assessments, ensuring the well-being of the deer population. The GPS collars play a crucial role in gathering data on migration patterns, contributing valuable insights to wildlife conservation efforts.
