STORYLINE:
The WHOOSH International Cartoon Contest 2023 concluded on Thursday in Jakarta, Indonesia's capital, and an award ceremony was held Thursday night.
The cartoon contest was themed on the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway (HSR), officially named WHOOSH.
The event, launched on Nov. 6, was supported by PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia-China (KCIC), a joint venture consortium that constructs and runs the HSR, the Indonesian Cartoonist Federation, and the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia.
A total of 296 painters from 40 countries took part in the competition, and the organizers received 424 cartoon works and 97 comic works. The winning works of this comic competition have been printed into books and will be exhibited at four stations along the high-speed railway.
The Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway (HSR), a landmark project of the Belt and Road Initiative, has delivered more than 700,000 passengers since it was put into commercial operation in mid-October.
