Family of Thai woman stabbed to death with her Canadian husband 'over parking dispute' seeks death penalty for killer
The family of a Thai woman stabbed to death with her Canadian husband 'over a parking dispute' wants her killer to face the death penalty.
Housewife Anurak Nixon, 47, and her Canadian partner Michael Nixon, 54, had just finished entertaining guests when they were stabbed by their neighbour Kachornsak Panyadee, 36, in front of their home in Khon Kaen province, Thailand, on December 15.
Kachornsak allegedly became angry and thought he was being insulted when he overheard Michael saying 'fuck you' from next door. After the visitors left, he grabbed a knife and attacked the newlyweds before surrendering himself to police.
The assault reportedly stemmed from a dispute over the parking area in front of Kachornsak's house, which was frequently occupied by the couple's visitors.
Anurak's family said the couple were married on November 19, and were preparing for their honeymoon before the horror attack.
Speaking to local media, Anurak's grieving mother, Boontao Imsa, 67, said the incident was especially 'heartbreaking' as she had recently lost her four-year-old grandson in an accident.
She said: 'I still cannot accept what happened, and I will never forgive my daughter's killer. He separated her from her husband. The only way I can find peace is if he receives the death penalty.
'If my daughter is listening, I want to tell her not to worry about us. We will find justice for her.'
Ban Ped police said Kachornsak was detained in police custody and is facing charges for murder and 'knife-related crimes'.
