The Redwood Creek in Humboldt County, California, set a new flow record on January 13.

The creek reached a peak flow of 42,800 cubic feet per second (cfs), reaching a height of 30.08 feet. This is the 6th highest flow event ever recorded for Redwood Creek.

The highest previously recorded flow was 50,500 cfs on December 22, 1964. The last time flows were close to this number was on January 1, 1997, at 40,300 cfs or 28.22 feet.

Hydrologists were closely monitoring this extraordinary occurrence in Redwood Creek, underscoring the impact of the rainy season on local water bodies.
