STORYLINE:

China is currently experiencing its annual Spring Festival travel rush, anticipated to reach a record-breaking 9 billion passenger trips this year.

"Here is Daxing airport in Beijing. As a comprehensive transportation junction, you can not only take flights here, but also the high-speed railway and subway. So now it's Spring Festival travel rush in China and let's see how everything is going in Daxing airport."

The Beijing Daxing International Airport opened in September 2019, and serves as a vital hub for both land and air transportation in Beijing.

"Daxing airport is a comprehensive transportation hub serving multiple cities. Here, we have urban rail transit, known as the Daxing Airport Line, which is a rapid metro line. There are also high-speed railways, namely Beijing-Xiong'an intercity line and Tianjin-Daxing rail line.
With the opening of the rail line linking Tianjin with our airport, the Daxing airport is actively collaborating with relevant authorities in Tianjin to promote the establishment of our urban terminal at Tianjin West Station. In the future, this will enable check-in and baggage services for travelers at our airport directly from that terminal."

The Spring Festival travel rush began last Friday, 15 days ahead of the Spring Festival, or the Lunar New Year.

During the 40-day travel rush, Daxing airport is expected to handle 36,000 flights with more than 5.5 million passengers.

"As visa processing becomes more convenient, and some overseas destinations have implemented visa-free policies, outbound travel is expected to usher in a peak during the Spring Festival travel rush this year."

"We will dynamically adjust clearance channels based on the expectation of a higher number of outbound travelers before the Spring Festival and a higher number of inbound travelers after the festival. While ensuring that the clearance time for Chinese citizens does not exceed 30 minutes, we will also strive to enhance the efficiency of clearance for foreign citizens."
