This is the amazing moment officials rescued endangered Kodiak Bear cubs roaming the streets of Florida.

A deputy from the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office (OCSO) responded to a citizen's report and discovered two cubs roaming the roadways in Baker on December 5.

At first, the officer assumed the cubs were ordinary bears. It was later discovered that the wild creatures were Kodiak Bear Cubs, a subspecies typically found in Alaska, some 3,600 miles away.

The OCSO, with assistance from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission (FWC), assured the cubs' safety. The bears have been moved to a secure facility.

According to the investigation, the bears escaped from an enclosure at a home on Old River Road where a person purporting to be a bear trainer lived. The resident is now facing several wildlife violations.

Kodiak bears are a separate subspecies of brown bear confined to Alaska's Kodiak Archipelago, where they have been isolated for perhaps 12,000 years. With a global population of over 3,500, these huge beasts are the world's largest bears, with males reaching heights of more than 10 feet and weighing up to 1,500 pounds.
