This is the adorable moment a curious bear mum sniffs a wildlife camera while roaming around a snowy forest with cubs.

Footage shows the bear exploring the frosty woods with her two young in the Maramures Mountains Natural Park in Romania on December 13.

She can then be seen attentively approaching the device before sniffing it as the two follow her.

The Romsilva National Directorate of Forests said: 'A very curious female bear with two cubs carefully examines the wildlife monitoring camera located in a forest in the Maramures Mountains Natural Park.

'Female bears usually have two or three cubs, very rarely four, and are devoted and protective of their cubs. They stay with the mother for at least two years.

'Bears live in vast mountain forests and dense forests in hilly areas. When searching for food, they travel very long distances, using their highly developed senses, especially the sense of smell, to find it.

'Their diet is predominantly plant-based, but they also eat fish, deer, small mammals, birds or bird eggs, and insects.

'The Maramures Mountains Natural Park, one of the 22 national and natural parks administered by the National Forestry Administration - Romsilva, is located in the north of the country and has an area of ​​133,418 hectares, of which over 90,000 hectares are forests.

'The fauna in the park is rich, with species such as the bear, lynx, otter or wolf, as well as several species of bats.'
