STORYLINE:
A China-built photovoltaic power generation project in the southwest of the Pacific island country of Nauru is expected to be installed in July this year.
According to the contractor China Harbor Engineering Company Ltd., the project will improve the electricity supply for local people and significantly reduce the cost of power generation.

"At present, Nauru mainly relies on diesel power generation. It is costly, and its emission gases pollute the environment. Nauru enjoys a tropical rainforest climate. It's very hot all year round and is endowed with sufficient light hours, which is very suitable for photovoltaic power generation. After the project is officially connected to the grid, it can meet the electricity demand of the entire island. Meanwhile, photovoltaic power, as a sustainable clean energy promoted globally, is green and environmentally friendly."
