The video purportedly shows Russian units conducting mine clearance operations in populated areas in Ukraine.

The systematic cleaning action, carried out by crews from Russia's South Military District, reportedly took place in Ukraine's Donetsk Region on February 1.

The operation was launched after locals reportedly asked troops to remove the Armoured Personnel Unit (APU)ammunition from their courtyards and the deadly mines on their agricultural lands.

Russia's Ministry of Defence said in a statement: 'Foreign-made mines are often found among the munitions found, many of which react to metal and vibration.

'Such finds are destroyed remotely, shot from automatic weapons.

'Engineers constantly have to deal with increasingly complex explosive devices, but the high level of professionalism and qualifications ensures they do not make mistakes.'
