An oil slick caused a pile-up crash involving six cars on a road in Thailand.

Footage shows a white sedan rotating 180 degrees when it passed through slippery asphalt in Nakhon Pathom province on February 3.

Another vehicle behind it crashed onto the traffic island and was thrown into the middle of two lanes.

A Ford pickup truck carrying three men on its cargo bed then shot forward and hit the motorist whose car recorded the incident in his dashcam.

Some of the cars nearby avoided the multiple collision but most were bumped or nudged on the busy road.

At least six cars were involved in the crash including Jirasak Wuttianunchai who was driving a Mitsubishi Pajero when it happened.

He said: ‘My car slightly slipped when I hit the brakes but I was able to gain control.

‘However, a Ford pickup truck accelerated from behind and crashed onto me.'

He added his daughter was injured with minor bruises but all of them were safe.

Authorities arrived to investigate the collision and cleaned the oil leak with water.

Jirasak added: ‘Bangkok Insurance said they would take care of everything. The Ford truck didn't have any insurance but the driver said he will pay for the repair costs of those he hit.

‘There were a total of six vehicles that collided with each other. The oil was cleaned with water.'

Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.

However, a lack of road safety education in schools along with notoriously easy driving tests, police failures to enforce road laws, and chronic under-investment in infrastructure, all appear to hamper the efforts.
