STORYLINE:

In Mymensingh district in Bangladesh, some 169,000 solar panels are laid in rows and absorbing energy from the sun.

The 50 MW photovoltaic power plant was invested by HDFC SinPower Ltd. whose major shareholder is a Chinese company. 

Construction began in September 2019 and it was put into commercial operation in November 2020.

It became the largest solar power plant in Bangladesh at that time.

"We never thought that electricity would be generated from sunlight, (and) now electricity is being generated from sunlight. 
Many of our children and relatives are working in this power plant. It has benefited us greatly."
   
As of now, the solar farm has been operating safely for about 1,200 days.

The clean energy generated by the plant has been delivered to the national grid for local people.

"Our project reduces carbon emissions by more than 50,000 tonnes per year. Meanwhile, we have also brought Chinese technologies, Chinese standards and Chinese equipment to Bangladesh along with our investment."
