Rescue underway after deadly eatery explosion rocks northern China
2 people were killed and 26 others were injured following an eatery explosion in Yanjiao, northern China today on March 13, local authorities said. Following the incident, the Langfang fire department immediately dispatched 36 fire trucks and 154 personnel to the scene for disposal.
The video showed the open fire has been extinguished but there’s still large amount of smoke. Rescue efforts are underway. Residents within 500 meters have been moved, onlookers have been evacuated and a police cordon has been put in place at the scene.
The injured have been taken to hospital, at present, 14 people are still in the hospital, including 2 seriously injured. Minor injuries were treated in emergency and then discharged from hospital.
The blast occurred at 7:54 a.m. local time at a fried chicken shop in Yanjiao township in the city of Sanhe, according to the city's emergency management bureau.
It is suspected to have been caused by a gas leak, the bureau said.
