Toddler nearly run over by mum reversing on driveway
This is the heart-stopping moment a toddler was nearly run over by her mum leaving their driveway in Thailand.
The one-year-old had been watching TV inside the house but went to the garage to see her mum off in Chiang Rai province on December 14.
However, the unattended child walked too close to the taxi and was knocked over as her mother was reversing.
Dramatic CCTV footage shows the girl being pushed across the ground as the cab rolled backward, with the vehicle's wheels nearly crushing her head.
The child's grandmother, who had been cooking in the kitchen, heard the toddler's cries and rushed outside and was horrified to find her under the car.
The girl was confined for one night at a hospital. She suffered abrasions on her right arm, chest, and left temple, but x-ray scans found no broken bones. She quickly made a full recovery.
Her mum said: 'I decided to share the video for other people to be aware of their children when driving their cars. I'm so relieved nothing serious happened to my daughter.'
Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.
However, a lack of road safety education in schools along with notoriously easy driving tests, police failures to enforce road laws, and chronic under-investment in infrastructure, all appear to hamper the efforts.
