Passengers stranded on monorail when train breaks in Bangkok
Passengers were forced to walk along train tracks when a monorail service was suspended due to falling parts in Thailand this morning.
Commuters were evacuated from the carriages and trudged across an elevated railway when their train reportedly malfunctioned in Bangkok on March 28.
Yellow Line operator Eastern Bangkok Monorail Co Ltd said metal parts fell off the conductor rail between Kalantan and Si Udom, triggering the suspension of services at all stations at around 9 am.
There were no injuries, while at least 12 vehicles were damaged by the falling parts, local media reported.
This is the second mishap involving the monorail system this year.
On January 2, a wheel fell off a Yellow Line train and struck a taxi on Thepharak Road in Samut Prakan province, damaging the vehicle but leaving its driver unharmed.
