STORYLINE:

The Arab League permanent members held an extraordinary meeting on Wednesday in the headquarters of the Arab League in Cairo, reaffirming its solid stance with Palestine.

The meeting, called upon by request from Palestine and headed by Mauritania, discussed the ongoing Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

"International stances have changed and gradually moved towards the Arab stance that we have taken since the first day. It was embodied in the last resolution by the Security Council that demanded for the first time an immediate ceasefire."

"The Egyptian stance is firm as it refuses any deportation of the Palestinian people out of their lands and refuses any sinful attempt to separate the Gaza strip from the occupied Palestinian territories which will be a flagrant violation of international law."
