Residents were shocked by a giant mushroom growing in their garden in Thailand.

Homeowner Chantra Tepakhan discovered the cluster of fungi sprouting in her mango orchard in Phayao this month.

Thinking it would bring her good luck, she decided to let it grow until the white mushrooms grew to a massive size, with each fleshy cap spanning more than a human palm.

Speaking to local media on April 19, Chantra said: 'This is the first time this type of mushroom has grown in my home. My neighbours told me to pluck them to throw into a soup, but I plan on letting them grow until they die.

'I think they are beautiful, and they may bring me good fortune.'
