Chinese woman suffer from abdominal pain after having long sewing needle in her stomach
For a month, Aunt Li of Yangzhou, southern China, suffered from abdominal pain that gradually worsened. On April 22, she went to Subei People's Hospital to seek medical treatment.
Yan Jiayu, a hernia surgeon at Subei People's Hospital, said: "I felt something hard and took a flat film. There was a metal foreign body but I wasn't sure what it was. It felt like a needle, but she had no memory of needles being inserted into her body surface."
To be on the safe side, the doctor immediately carried out an operation and found a sewing needle about 5 centimeters long hidden in Aunt Li's abdomen. The doctor said that fortunately, the needle is inserted into the subcutaneous fat and muscle layer of the abdomen, and if it is not handled in time, it may bring more trouble, and it may be inserted into the abdominal intestine, or other organs.
So how exactly did this needle get in? Aunt Li speculated that she might have dropped the needle while sewing clothes on her bed. Later, when Aunt Li was sleeping, she probably poked it right into her body. At present, Aunt Li is recovering well and can be discharged home the next day after the operation.
