A spectacular drone show illuminated the sky to celebrate Indonesia's 80th Independence Day.

Footage captures the stunning aerial light performance above Bundaran Hotel Indonesia, one of Jakarta's most famous landmarks.

A simultaneous fireworks display added even more spectacle to the evening's festivities on August 17.

Earlier that evening, an Independence Carnival began at the National Monument (Monas) and stretched southwards to the Semanggi interchange.

The procession included a variety of cultural performances and representatives from the creative industry, alongside presentations from government ministries, the military, police, and state-owned companies.

Indonesia's Independence Day commemorates the historic declaration of independence from Dutch colonial rule, which was proclaimed on August 17, 1945.
