More than 950 mills in the Netherlands were open to the public on Saturday as the Dutch celebrated the annual National Mill Day.
Offering guided tours of mills, traditional crafts, and demonstrations, the event provided a fantastic opportunity for both locals and tourists to appreciate the rich history and cultural significance of mills in Dutch life.

"In history, they played a very important role. In the 19th century, there were more than 10,000 windmills working, doing all kinds of things, keeping the land dry, making flour for bread, of course."
The National Mill Day is observed every year on the second weekend in May.
This two-day event, organized by the Dutch Mill Association, was established in 1923 to ensure the preservation of windmills and watermills in the Netherlands.
