Advancements in Chinese-made display-screen technology are poised to enhance not just smart phone and handheld devices, but also products used in the auto industry and in everyday life.
A flexible display manufacturer in the eastern Chinese city of Xiamen recently unveiled a screen that can fold into thirds, or when stretched out, is the size of a tablet computer.
The company says screens like these offer a better viewing experience for watching videos or playing games.
But the auto industry, where touch-screen displays are widely used, is also eyeing the folding-screen technology to take their vehicle designs to the next level.

Wang Lei, executive vice president, Tianma Microelectronics:
"The displays we make will ultimately be used in consumer products. One of their potential applications is in automobile, especially smart cars, and new energy vehicles. In the future, displays will become more and more intelligent."

Other screen advancements from Xiamen include this micro-screen display which can be used on Augmented Reality glasses.
The micro screen projects images or text onto the lens of a pair of AR glasses, which can be used as a visual aid to help hearing-impaired people.
