An abandoned newborn baby was found on railway tracks in Thailand.

The girl, estimated to be only a few weeks old, was first spotted by a passing youngster who asked adults for help near Bang Bon Train Station in Bangkok on May 10.

Footage shows the infant wearing a pink hat and wrapped in a blanket being carried by resident Noppadol Yetaphut who picked it up.

The youngster was turned over to the patrol officers from Tha Kham Police Station who responded to the scene when informed by the residents.

Noppadol said: 'It was around 10 PM, a kid in the community informed me that someone had left the baby.

'I went to see what had happened and found the baby still alive, so I reported it to the police.

'Before the discovery, I saw two individuals walking past with behaving suspiciously.'

The baby was generally healthy and had no wounds. She was taken to the hospital for a health examination and will then be given to social services while officers search for her identity.
