Twentynine Palms, CA, USA - June 5, 2024

On June 5, 2024, a group of U.S. Marines and civilians gathered at the Tortoise Research and Captive Rearing Site (TRACRS) located within the Marine Corps Air-Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms, California. The purpose of their visit was to observe firsthand the mission of TRACRS, which focuses on rescuing, rehabilitating, and relocating endangered species, particularly the desert tortoise.

Managed by the MCAGCC Environmental Affairs directorate, the TRACRS facility operates in conjunction with the Head Start Program. This initiative underscores the Marine Corps' dedication to environmental stewardship and biodiversity conservation.
