Storyline China's foreign trade hits new record high in 2025 China’s foreign trade reached a new milestone in 2025. Total trade in goods exceeded 45 trillion yuan – or more than six trillion US dollars – for the first time, marking a record high. Exports rose 6.1 percent year on year, while imports grew by 0.5 percent. China has maintained its position as the world’s largest trader of goods. Wang Jun, Vice Minister, China's General Administration of Customs: "The rational growth in quantity stems from the effective improvement in quality. China has been adapting to international market demands through innovation, promoting global green transformation with green initiatives, and promoting common development through cooperation." China’s trading partners also became more diversified. In 2025, the country conducted trade with more than 240 countries and regions, with import and export volumes rising with over 190 of them. Officials said the achievements were hard-won. Wang noted that the steady performance was underpinned by the leadership of the Communist Party of China, alongside policies aimed at stabilizing and expanding foreign trade. A range of measures has been rolled out to facilitate customs clearance, further improve the business environment and deepen innovation in customs supervision systems.
