Taal Volcano continues spewing steam in the Philippines
Taal Volcano continued to spew steam as it rumbled with activity in the Philippines.
Video shows the volcano releasing thick clouds of gas in Batangas province early morning on June 11.
State seismological agency PHIVOLCS said in a June 11 bulletin that no volcanic earthquakes were detected as a 'moderate emission' of gas plumes up to 4,921 feet high were observed drifting in a northwest direction.
PHIVOLCS also reported a sulfur dioxide flux rate of 2,470 tonnes per day as of June 10.
On June 8, Taal had a steam-driven eruption, causing volcanic smog that shrouded nearby towns.
The volcano is currently under Alert Level 1 indicating low-level seismic unrest.
The Philippines is an archipelago of more than 7,000 islands inside the Pacific 'Ring of Fire' where the majority of Earth's volcano eruptions and earthquakes happen.
