SOUNDBITE 1 (English): WARREN PEARCE, Chief executive officer of the Association of Mining and Exploration Companies (AMEC)
"I think Chinese investment has been incredibly important to Australia's resources industry. I mean relative to the last 15 years, it's been Chinese investment at the top that's turned on major new projects, and we've been a major beneficiary of that investment, and it has really helped Australia's prosperity.
Equally, China remains a really important market to us, not just for traditional and established minerals like iron ore and going into your steelmaking factories of the critical minerals as well going into China's large processing industry. So it's a really important market for us. It's a really important investor here into Australia. It's very important we actually continue that good trading relationship that's been mutually beneficial for both countries."
SOUNDBITE 2 (English): DINO OTRANTO, Chief executive officer of Fortescue Metals
"So the future cooperation between Fortescue and China are many and large. We already import a lot of products that are manufactured in China. And we see that growing. We've announced a very ambitious plan to transform our energy system for Fortescue to completely green by 2030. And I think China is very uniquely placed to supply the wind, the solar, the technology in large-scale manufacturing for us to enable our success, and show the planet, it's possible to turn a heavy carbon dioxide emitter, which we are, completely green by 2030."
